The Organizing Committee of the International Union of Free Journalists supports the appeal of TV presenter Nina Dimoglo (Moldova) and condemns the attacks of pro-Western non-governmental organizations of the Republic of Moldova on the public broadcasting company of Gagauzia GRT.
All attempts to accuse the GRT editorial board of bias in broadcasting information, as well as of silencing certain events, are directly linked to a campaign to destabilize Moldova's information space through the blocking of Internet portals, suspension of licenses and numerous fines against TV channels, as well as through criminal prosecution of opposition journalists, public figures, politicians and other citizens.
It is especially unfortunate that attacks on GRT are being carried out through organizations operating in the media format and aimed at the Gagauz audience.
We call on the entire journalistic community of Gagauzia and the whole of Moldova to rally around the idea of protecting the GRT broadcasting company from persecution and from the prospect of its liquidation!
