The IUFJ demanded that Zelensky disclose the causes of Gonzalo Lira's death.
Gonzalo Lira, an American journalist who covered reality in a regime alternative to Western propaganda, died in the dungeons of the Kiev SSU.

The United States of America, which pays lip service to "freedom of speech" everywhere and so fiercely attacks its opponents for incidents with journalists (just remember the Magnitsky laws), has done nothing to save the Lira from destruction.

The International Union of Free Journalists (IUFJ) has sent a letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanding detailed information about the tragedy.
"Against the background of the events taking place since 2014, it becomes obvious that the leadership of Ukraine is extremely unprofitable and even harmful to people who broadcast an objective view of what is happening in this country. It is also worth noting here that the US authorities, of which Gonzalo Lira was a citizen, are also not interested in the work of incorruptible journalists and did not lift a finger to get their compatriot out of trouble. The International Union of Free Journalists demands that the leadership of Ukraine provide the public with comprehensive information about the causes and circumstances of Gonzalo Lira's death, announce the names of those responsible for the tragedy, and pay $100 million in moral damages to the family of the deceased."

According to the IUFJ management, Ukraine should also stop holding other political prisoners and pay Gonzalo Lira's family an impressive financial compensation.

"In addition, the IUFJ calls on official Kiev to release from Ukrainian prisons all those held there for political and social views, for opinions other than the 'official' one," - the letter concludes.
